Xiaomi launched Mi Pay In India – Mi’s UPI based payments app

Xiaomi launched “Mi Pay” Unified payments Interface app in India. Xiaomi says that the Mi Pay app has been approved by the National Payments corporation of India. They say that ICICI Bank will function as the payment service provider for Mi Pay App. Another good news is that the service allows payments via debit cards, credit cards and Internet Banking.

Company says that the Mi Pay app will be available via Mi Apps store and framework will be integrated within MIUI over the next couple of weeks. Because of the integration with MIUI, users need not have to open Mi Pay app to make payments.

Xiaomi is running promotions in India to entice consumers to use Mi Pay. As part of these promotions, Xiaomi is giving out free TVs and smartphones to lucky Mi Pay users.

In December last year, Xiaomi announced that it had begun beta testing of Mi Pay in India and in February the app became part of MIUI 10 Global beta ROM. Even before the app is ready to download, I saw Mi Pay app in one of my friends Mi Phone that has MIUI 10 and that is where I got the above image.
