How to apply for a Kisan credit card?
We all know how COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown impacted the world. The worst-hit is farmers, laborers, and employees of private sectors. Lakhs of people lost jobs and lakhs have lost jobs during the lockdown period. To support farmers, the Indian government announced a relief package for farmers in the form of Kisan Credit cards. Here are the features of the card and steps on how to apply for a Kisan credit card.
Features of Kisan Credit card:
The card is a financial aid given by the government of India. The scheme allows farmers to take loans at concessional rates that aim to save them from high-interest rates charged by moneylenders. In addition to that, farmers get longer repayment periods and crop insurance. Kisan credit card offers interest rates as low as 2%.
Individuals who meet the following requirements can get a Kisan Credit Card
- Minimum age – 18 years
- Maximum age – 75 years at the end of the loan tenure
- For borrowers above the age of 60, a co-borrower less than 60 years old is mandatory. Such a co-borrower. Should be legal heir/immediate family member
- Joint holding – up to 5 persons
How to apply for a Kisan Credit card?
The applicant associated with farming and agriculture should submit the application form. The Kisan credit card also covers fishermen and animal husbandry. As discussed above, the applicant should be between 18 – 75 years and if the applicant is more than 60 years, the co-applicant is mandatory.
State Bank of India, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, and a couple of other Banks are issuing Kisan credit cards to farmers. The applicant has to visit the website of the bank he/she prefers to download the application form, fill in the details, and submit it in the Bank branch. Applicants need to submit additional documents for identification and address proof along with the application form.
